Michael Sherman

Michael Sherman is the Managing Director for Customer Strategy and Commercial Delivery for Barclays UK. In his role, he leads Barclays UK's Marketing, Data and Analytics, Complex Portfolio (currently Cost of Living Crisis), Commercial Performance (Operating Committee), and Customer Strategy.  
 
Previously, Michael was the Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer for BT Group and a member of BT Group's Executive Committee. Michael was responsible for pan-BT Business Strategy and driving transformational programmes for BT Group. Michael has worked with two of BT's CEOs helping to define the future strategy for BT. He has also developed BT's end-to-end business transformation programme called Simplify.  
 
Prior to BT, Michael was a Partner and Managing Director with BCG where he worked with many of the world's leading technology and telecommunication c-suite executives on improving business and operational strategy. Michael is considered an expert in telecommunications, digital, transformation and enterprise software; he has published leading strategies for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.  
 
Furthermore, Michael has served on several boards and non-profit councils. Michael is currently a Non-Executive for Ocado Group, a FTSE 100 company. Michael was an active board member for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. Michael was on the business advisory council for the district 11 Federal Reserve Bank. Michael is an active member of the Executive Leadership Council. In 2016, Michael was recognized by Savoy Magazine as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America. Also in 2016, Michael was recognized by the Financial Times and UPStanding as one of the top 100 executives in the US and UK who is fighting against discrimination and championing ethnic diversity and inclusion in the workplace and beyond. 
 
Prior to BCG, Michael was a corporate officer for a supply chain software company focused on fast-moving consumer goods companies. Michael has a BS in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from Duke University. He also has an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.
