Prof. Robert Jenkins

Robert Jenkins is a former banker, fund manager and policy maker. He is currently a professor, board director and public policy advocate. At LBS he teaches investment management and Chairs the AQR Asset Management Institute.

He was a senior executive at CitiGroup where he ran the bank’s trading and sales activities in Dubai, Bahrain, Switzerland and Japan. During a stint at Head Office he was responsible for setting trading and liquidity limits for Citibank’s dealing rooms globally. He followed these 16 years on the “sell side” with a further 18 on the “buy side.”

He headed Credit Suisse’s asset management activities in Japan, was co-head of Credit Suisse Asset Management (UK and Central Europe) and then led F&C Asset Management – first as CEO, then later as Chairman. Prior to his appointment to the Bank of England, he served as CEO and Managing Partner of Combinatorics Capital, a NY-based hedge fund. 

Mr Jenkins Chaired the Investment Management Association of the UK, co-chaired the Chancellor’s task force on the ‘Future of the UK Investment Industry’ and served on the UK’s Takeover Panel. From 2011-2013 he served as a founding member of the Financial Policy Committee of the Bank of England. 

In recognition of his many contributions to the investment profession Mr. Jenkins was made a Fellow of the Society of Investment Professionals (FSIP) by the CFA organisation.
