Bumi Thomas is contemporary. A Scottish Nigerian - Afro Brazilian singer-songweaver whose ethereal voice stokes the soul tenderly.Her sound is raw, progressive, genrefluid. An organic fusion of folk, jazz, high-life, blues, soul and improv. 'l tell stories about movement, displacement, joy and humanity with the intent to transcend and transform'.  Driven by the power of music and art as connective catalysts for social change, she curates space for trans-cultural dialogue, reimagining  futures through sonic exchange. 

Forged on the live circuit Bumi has shared the stage with many musical greats, including Tony Allen, Ginger Baker, BUIKA, Keziah Jones, ASA, TuFace, Shingai Shoniwa, Ayanna Witter Johnson, Melody Gardot, Rhiannon Giddens, Laura Mvula, Vieux Farka Toure,  Les Amazones dès Afrique, Osibisa and more. Playing sold out shows in  venues such as the London Jazz Cafe, Roundhouse, Somerset House, Ronnie Scotts,  Royal Festival Hall, Royal Opera House, Sadlers Wells, Southbank WOW (Women of the World) Festival, Collective Intimacy for Frieze Art Fair at 180 Studios with Prada, The V&A, eARTh, London Palladium,the Royal Albert Hall, Edinburgh International Book Festival, London Jazz Festival, Museu Nacional de Republica Brasil, Latininades, MACAAL Museum of Contemporary Art Al Maden and Google.

Her latest EP 'Broken Silence' reached No 1 on the UK Itunes  RnB charts and was described as 'Strikingly original'  by London Jazz News and  'Visceral and Timely' by The Sunday Times. The lead Single 'Black Child' was featured on BBC Radio 4 Loose Ends.
