Mounir Nakhla is the Founder and CEO of MNT-Halan, Egypt and MENA’s first unicorn and the region’s leading fintech and largest non-bank financial services provider, with a mission to revolutionize access to financial services through technology. A serial entrepreneur, Nakhla has built several companies over the past decade, each contributing to the foundation of MNT-Halan.

His journey began in 2010 with the establishment of his first company, focused on asset-based financing, which evolved into a consumer finance provider. In 2015, he launched a market-leading financial services business, driving greater access to underserved communities. By 2017, he had expanded into financial technology and payments, recognizing the transformative potential of digital innovation. In 2021, he unified his ventures under the MNT-Halan brand, creating a comprehensive financial platform that combines lending, payments, and commerce.

Today, MNT-Halan is the region’s leading fintech and the fastest-growing lender in Egypt, having served over 7 million customers and issued over US$11 billion in loans, with a gross loan book totaling over US$1Bn in all its markets. The company has raised over US$560 million from international investors and recently expanded operations to Turkey, the UAE, and Pakistan.

Nakhla strongly believes in the power of unlocking financial freedom to improve lives and foster economic opportunities, with a focus on the empowerment of women. He actively champions these causes in high-level discussions at global forums and through partnerships with international development organizations, including UN Women.

In recognition of his achievements, Nakhla was named Endeavor Egypt’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2023. MNT-Halan has been featured on the Financial Times’ list of Africa's Fastest Growing Companies for two consecutive years and has won accolades including Global Finance Magazine’s Most Innovative Financial Technology Company 2024 in both the Middle East and Africa, as well as the 11:FS Impact Award for Business Gamechanger in 2024.

Nakhla holds a BSc in International Business Studies from the European Business School and an MSc in Environment and Development from the London School of Economics.
