Sukhvir Basran is a partner in Cadwalader's Financial Services Group and Co-Chair of the firm’s ESG practice. Combining her substantial experience as a banking and finance lawyer, Sukhvir advises corporates and financial institutions on a broad range of sustainability matters.  Sukhvir’s approach to innovation has earned her various awards: “The Sustainability Linked Loans (SLL) Lender Toolkit and Corporates and Sponsors’ Sustainable Roadmap” was shortlisted for The Lawyer Awards (2022) and Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards (2021). Sukhvir earned the 2023 Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe Award for Impact and ESG and more recently has been shortlisted for the Environmental/Sustainability: Private Practice Champion at the Legal500 ESG Awards. 

Sukhvir is Chair of the 2X Global and a champion of gender equality. She has been instrumental in her role to unlocking and mainstreaming climate-justice focused capital and investment by advising on climate/gender finance market standards and JEDI Investing toolkit and the Gender and Climate Finance toolkit.
