Tim Pointer began his HR career at Marks & Spencer, and has gone on to be HR Director of family businesses such as Italian fashion brand Diesel; spirits and wine joint venture Maxxium Asia-Pacific (which included French family producer Rèmy Cointreau); and Pentland Brands, the family business that owns global brands Speedo, Canterbury, Berghaus, Ellesse and Mitre and is the global footwear licensee for Lacoste and Ted Baker.

Two years ago, he founded Starboard Thinking, the consultancy which accelerates organisational performance through culture, engagement, and talent. Starboard works with Executive teams to realise their ambition through their people, and counts a variety of family businesses among its clients.

Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development; a graduate of the University of York and Lancaster University; and qualified as an executive coach at Ashridge Business School.
